North Las Vegas NV Best Optometrist
Dry eyes do not pose any long term danger to your eyes or your vision, but they are most certainly uncomfortable. And they can impact your vision temporarily. Let our North Las Vegas NV best optometrist, Michael Vathanasaynee, O.D examine you and evaluate your dry eyes. Treating them is typically a simple matter, but one that is vital to helping you feel better.
Among the symptoms that are usually associated with dry eyes are a burning or stinging sensation in your eyes, tired eyes, blurry vision (particularly if you use a computer frequently), sensitivity to light, red eyes, and discomfort when wearing contact lenses. Risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing dry eyes include exposure to wind and tobacco smoke (both your own and second hand). Testing for dry eyes is centered on determining if you are producing the proper amount of tears, and of sufficient quality to lubricate your eyes. Quantity is gauged with blotting strips of paper under your lower eyelids. And for quality, specially dyed eye drops are used. Those are not the only tests that are done. Others may be conducted if deemed relevant by our North Las Vegas NV best optometrist. Lifestyle adjustments can be very helpful in mitigating the effect of dry eyes, as well as in preventing them from recurring. For example, avoid air-conditioning. And if possible, place a humidifier in your home to add moisture to the air. Cigaret smoke is something you should definitely stay away from. And when you are outside on a windy day, wear eyeglasses or sunglasses for protection. Direct treatment is usually with either over-the-counter or prescription strength eye drops called artificial tears.
It’s comforting to know that when any trouble regarding your eyes develops, you can turn to our North Las Vegas NV best optometrist for help. Arrange an appointment at our office. Call us right now.

Eye Lenses North Las Vegas
Contact lenses are a convenient way to see clearly without the need for eyeglasses. Many people prefer contact lenses, but for some it is not the most ideal option. At the offices of Michael Vathanasaynee, O.D., we offer eye lenses North Las Vegas and eyeglasses for patients who need vision correction.
Most of the choice lies in whether patients prefer to wear them based on their lifestyle. Comfort and convenience are a big factor in wearing eye lenses North Las Vegas. Aesthetics can be a factor as well. Both forms of vision correction are great for enhancing vision, and no one form is better than the other. The pros of eyeglasses are that they’re cheaper than contact lenses, and don’t need as much maintenance. They also cannot cause eye bacteria like contacts do. Glasses are also a good way to make a fashion statement. The cons of glasses are that they are visible and some people don’t like that. They also can get dirty, and need to be cleaned. They can get in the way of playing sports or driving in glare or sunlight. Vision can be obstructed due to the way glasses sit on the nose, or cause headaches and pressure on the bridge of the nose.
The advantages that contact lenses have are that they’re inside the eye, with no obstructions. Those who wear contact eye lenses North Las Vegas can play sports and do outdoor activities easily while wearing contacts. Also, wearers can change the color of their eyes with colored contact lenses. Contacts also provide a wider field of vision. They won’t clash with clothe, either. The cons of contacts are that they can be hard to get used to and can be hard to put inside the eye. It’s a learning curve. Contacts can also cause dry eye syndrome by reducing the amount of oxygen that reaches the eye.

If it is found that you are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism, our eye doctor will be able to write a contact lens or eyeglass lens prescription for you that will have you seeing clearly. Cataract Co-Management in Spring Valley
Cataracts are a common eye disease that afflicts many Americans each year. Cataracts form when proteins build up in the lens of the eye and create cloudy vision, causing problems with eyesight. Light cannot pass through the eye properly when cataracts are present, but they can be treated with cataract co-management in Spring Valley. At the offices of Michael Vathanasaynee, O.D., our cataract co-management services are easy and simplified in order to get you the care you need.
Cataracts can be treated successfully with surgery and can treat both medical and refractive cataracts, such as cataract impaired vision and cataracts caused by presbyopia and astigmatism. Cataract co-management in Spring Valley of both these types is permitted because Medicare guidelines for co-management do not differ based on the kind of IOL’s that are used. However, medical conditions are generally covered while refractive treatments are not covered and are considered payable by the patient.
Cataracts are usually caused by a couple different things. Age related cataracts form as the person gets older, which is common. Congenital cataracts happen when children are born with them, and can be caused by an infection or injury, or inside the womb. This form of cataracts is more rare. Or, cataracts may be caused from medical conditions like diabetes or from certain medications. Because cataracts come on slowly, most patients do not realize they are suffering from them. If patients notice any nearsightedness or changes in the way they are seeing color, problems driving at night or double vision, they should come in for a comprehensive exam. We’ll perform an eye dilation if needed and check the retina and lens and discuss cataract co-management in Spring Valley as well. Treatment options can range from surgery, for worse cases of catarats, to prescription glasses designed to better enhance vision.
